What is a cabin air filter? Cars built after 2003 and a few previous years have what is commonly called a pollen filter. This filters the air you breathe inside your vehicle; this filter should be changed about every 15K miles. Also consider where you drive, you may be exposed to more dust, pollen, smog & more pollutants you may need to change the filters more often.
